Time 4 Learning: Writing

Arowyn & Teagan were using their Time 4 Learning program today and it had them writing their own story. Oddly enough Teagan reads easier than Arowyn most of the time but when it comes to writing or spelling Arowyn blows right past him. I have no idea why this is but we've been working on this lately and Teagan just can't seem to put anything down on paper unless he knows he's spelled it right, and he is even this way after being given a lot of encouragement to just do his best and then we can go over what wasn't right when he's finished. This idea was met with much whining and complaining so to supplement this I let him have their two picture dictionaries and had him try to use them to spell any big words he wanted to use that he didn't know. He enjoyed doing this for a little while but the daunting task of stringing enough words together to make a couple of sentences was just too much for him so we stopped for the day. I know though that at some point one day we will conquer this.
