Homeschool P.E. In A Coat

The kids are back at Truman on Friday mornings for the Homeschool P.E. Class that they provide. The kids always enjoy it so much. Lately though it's been to cold outside for Arowyn's liking and for how tiny she is she gets cold so easily. So coaxing her out of her coat once we get inside of the gym doesn't always happen. Watching her run around all bundled up is just so funny to watch. But usually about halfway through the class all the running around will warm her up enough that she will finally take it off. Then when their all done she says she's too hot to put it back on but once we step outside she quickly changes her mind.

Tumbling Winter Session: 1st Class

Both Arowyn & Teagan were very excited that they were moving up from the Tumbling Teenies class to Level 1 this year. Today was their first class of the session and when I peeked in they were working on doing a proper forward roll and handstands.  The forward rolls although slightly of kilter some of the time seem to be coming along nicely. And if they can just manage to get their legs completely vertical they'll be well on the way to accomplishing the handstand. Both the kids had a great time in class today and are looking forward to next week's lesson.

all the cool stuff in the room.

Flag Football: Game 6

Today was so cold that even though the weather was ok it was just too cold and windy to be outside so we were in gym again today. Both Arowyn & Teagan were pumped that they both had a chance to run with the ball today. What a great end to a fun season.

The opening prayer

Teagan doing his best to hold back the blue horde

Arowyn trying to stare down one of the blue players

 Arowyn blocking for her quarterback

This is the only shot I have of Arowyn with the ball
in this game she's the fuzzy yellow blur with
the long hair behind everyone

Teagan gets the ball and starts to run for it

 Ouch! That's got to hurt.

And the blue team member takes Teagan all
the way to the ground (I think he might of been
confused about this being flag football and not touch)

Teagan though takes it like a champ and didn't
even cry. In fact if you look closely even
though his eyes are still closed he
has a slight grin on his face.

Flag Football: Game 5

It was too cold and wet today for our game to be outdoors so we were inside today. Being indoors took a little getting used to because for the first couple of plays everyone was trying to figure out which way they were supposed to be going and what was considered out of bounds and all. But all in all it was a good game today both Arowyn and Teagan got to have a turn being the quarterback and getting to run with the ball, they didn't make it up the field any but they both had fun trying.

Living Room Hockey

Arowyn was inspired watching Cham and I play hockey at the Macon Roller Rink last night and pulled out her and Teagan's hockey set. She put up some boards in the form of Magnablocks to help the puck, which was really a ball of tape, stay on the rink. We had a lot of fun and she is now trying to talk me into getting her and Teagan some skates and pads.

Flag Football: Game 4

This week Teagan finally really started getting into the game although almost too enthusiastically. How so you may ask, my answer to you is just look at the pictures. This week we’ll be working on how to strike a good balance when blocking how much contact is too much contact.

Teagan's ready to try this whole blocking thing

Teagan gets a little to enthusiastic with his blocking
technique and gives the green teams player a bear hug
to keep him from going anywhere

He hears me yelling from the sideline
"TEAGAN, LET HIM GO!"
and he changes is technique

Teagan looking distressed because
this more acceptable technique doesn't
seem nearly as effective to him

Teagan now having to chase the green
team member thinking "I don't understand
why this way of blocking is better"

Teagan playing center

If you look closely you can see Teagan collaring
one of the green team in another enthusiastic
attempt at blocking

Teagan's excited to play center

Teagan demonstrating his blocking
technique to his teammates

Teagan gets the ball and runs

And dodges

Tries to go up the field

And hits a wall of green

And goes down

Arowyn blocking

Teagan trying to block for his quarterback

Teagan and another one of his
more enthusiastic blocking attempts

Teagan looking quiet pleased with himself
